What Came First? The Ball or the EGG?

The Easter Golf Gathering can be traced, thanks to the wonders of Carbon WhatsApp Dating, to an innocent inquisitive post by a certain Wallace Wilson on 6th March 2017. The message simply read:
This was enough to send minds racing, chat flowing and plans changing as the magnitude of Wallace’s proposal sunk in.
I’d played Royal Dornoch 6 months prior to this when touring Scotland's North Coast 500, a sport-savvy and very accommodating wife allowing me 5 hours (and a 3 figure sum out our funds) to play what was slowly becoming Scotland’s not-so-secret hidden gem. Needless to say I needed very little encouragement to visit again, this time the lure of a round on Scotland’s finest Links Course with 3 of my close friends proving an even bigger pull than my round with 3 random Londoners the previous October.
The Dornoch proposal wasn’t the only trigger to the first EGG being laid. A group of us had arranged a round at Aberdour Golf Club for Easter Saturday, which was far North enough to justify continuing in that direction and building a four day, four course itinerary. Nairn Dunbar was pretty much on the way to Dornoch, then it would've been rude not pay a visit to Tain as we left. This golf tour organising was a piece of piss.
This was now a Gathering, and the first Easter Golf Gathering - EGG - was laid.
The itinerary read:
Saturday 15 April
Aberdour GC
Sunday 16 April
Nairn Dunbar GC
Monday 17 April
Royal Dornoch
Tuesday 18 April
Tain GC
Credit goes to EGG founding members “The Four Boys” for establishing and continuing the EGG tradition into its 8th year.
The Easter Golf Gathering has grown year on year to form a thriving golf society with around 30 members, which tries to connect golfers through organised trips, competitions, events and informal meet-ups. The knowledge gained through organising tours, visiting various golf destinations and experiencing the après golf scene has inspired Eagle Golf Guides which looks to inspire others to sample some of the best areas to golf.
